Notice of Efforts to Alleviate Congestion on National Route 237

During the three-day holiday in July, when lavender fields are at their peak, National Route 237—particularly the section from Furano City to Asahikawa City—experiences heavy congestion due to a mix of sightseeing vehicles heading mainly to FARM TOMITA, other lavender gardens and other general traffic.

To alleviate traffic congestion in Nakafurano Town, including along National Route 237, the following measures will be implemented:

  • Park & Ride System: Local commercial facility parking lots will be designated as Park & Ride locations. From these lots, visitors can take free shuttle buses or switch to rental bicycles to reach nearby tourist destinations.
  • Temporary Lane Expansion: The number of lanes heading toward Asahikawa will be temporarily increased to two, allowing for the separation of sightseeing traffic from general traffic.

We appreciate your cooperation and encourage you to use these services to enjoy a smoother and more pleasant lavender sightseeing experience.
